book samjjana

Inquiries and invitations are welcome for concerts, special functions, weddings, retreats, Satsangs, music events, festivals and flute lessons.

What we offer extends beyond music, into the realm of meditation and sound therapy. Our music has also proved to be profoundly heartfelt at funerals.

As well as performances, we offer sound therapy (group or individual sessions), flute tuition, Satsings and Musical Alchemy Workshops (scroll down for more details).

Pratika-Sahayak has been a meditation teacher since 1995, and Maia has qualified as a Life Coach (2003) and NLP Master Practitioner (2005). These skills bring additional wisdom and guidance to workshops, sessions and meditations.

Whether offered subtlely (e.g. a performance at an event or corporate function) or offered more directly as music therapy (workshops, group/individual sessions), our music has a palpable, positive effect on audiences and participants.

Our music offers something unique and different for corporate events. As background music it is at the same time intriguing, very relaxing and unobtrusive.

Performances, sessions or workshops in corporate environments can be tailored to suit the organiser and audience. We can also be sponsored to offer our music to a charity or non-profit organisation of your choice.

We wish to speak plainly about the alternative nature of our offerings.

As a result of our respective experiences, despite both having had quite a conventional upbringing, we have come to have quite an esoteric perspective of life and of music. We share this perspective (evident throughout our website), though at the same time honouring and respecting others' beliefs and perspectives.

Our life experiences have been extraordinary and as a result we embrace an holistic and expanded view of existence. It has shaped our world, and our work, in a truly wonderful way, and it has created the possibility for us to touch many lives and inspire others, for which we are very grateful.

We function very effectively and successfully in mainstream society and corporate environments (in which we have both, in the past, successfully worked as full time public servants).

Our music has been embraced across all sectors of society.

If anyone feels any uncertainty about our approach, we invite you to speak with our manager, Sargolais, who you can contact below.

Pratika-Sahayak offers guidance for those who wish to learn Native American Indian flute or improve their playing. Individual or group sessions. Cost depends on location, venue and number of participants, starting at $40.

Flutes have their own 'voice' - each requires a particular style of playing and breath control, yet it is the musicians who bring the flute's 'voice' to its fullest through their own creative awareness, breath and oneness with the flute.

Pratika-Sahayak is available to teach those who wish to learn how to play wooden flutes or rekindle their passion for playing. Whether an individual or a group, Sahayak will enthusiastically pass on his experiences so that you, too, can confidently develop your musicality, your technique and your own style of playing, to play with creative freedom.

Individual instruction gives an understanding of the care of flutes, their history, playing techniques, breath control and fingering exercises. Please note - you do not have to have played before, or be able to read music, or understand music theory to play wooden flutes.

All Pratika-Sahayak asks is that you come with a smile, plenty of enthusiasm and an open heart, and with your own flute. If you don't have your own, Sahayak can recommend some flute makers and importers.

Beginners usually require two hours of tuition (best spaced over two sessions, one or two weeks apart).

Pratika-Sahayak is based on the Sunshine Coast. Phone 0435 447 693 or email via our contact form.

Pratika-Sahayak's flute background

Pratika-Sahayak has been blessed with many inspirations on his flute journey. From first hearing the meditative Xiao bamboo flute high in the sacred mountains of western China, to the haunting sounds of the Native American Indian flutes after running across Apache lands in the US, to the sliding notes of the Indian bansuri flutes, played by his Indian spiritual Master, Sahayak's flute playing has been influenced and inspired by a variety of cultures, traditions and experiences.

Performing solo and with Maia as 'samjjana', and at times in collaboration with other musicians in concerts in Australia and overseas, Pratika-Sahayak's passion, experience and distinctive style of playing and his spontaneous and intuitive musical expression captures the hearts of audiences.

satsings

Our Satsings are uplifting gatherings for the purpose of using sound to enhance peace and wellbeing, and for the offering and receiving of blissful, meditative waves of sound.

It is also for the heart-expanding joy of expressing oneself through sound, in unity with others - knowing that the voice is a divine instrument regardless of whether one can 'sing' or not in the conventional sense. No minimum standard required, no previous experience necessary!

While there may be an occasional traditional bhajan, the chants are primarily original, non-traditional chants given by Spirit and received by Maia. They all offer beautiful messages in a simple way.

A Satsing may include such things as:

sounding mantras ~ original chants and bhajans (sacred Vedic songs) ~ singing rounds ~ sound baths ~ voice improvisations ~ sounding and toning ~ instruments of musical alchemy (including the hang, wooden flutes and Alchemy crystal bowls) ~ sharing wisdom about sound and voice.
